2005-2006 education groups and schedules

Mounted Meetings
Mounted meetings try to give consistent mounted instruction in a peer group setting based on the age and rating level of the pony clubber. Groups are small, but by being in a group it helps to keep the cost of a lesson down. Mounted meetings are intended to supplement the rider's regular instruction program. Children should be riding regularly with their own instructors in addition to mounted meetings. Remember, reservations are required. General questions about Mounted Meetings should be made to Karen Petrauskas.

Updated November 2005:
Mounted meetings for all D's are being held on most Tuesdays and Saturdays. Contact Elizabeth Lloyd (Tocci) for reservations.. Cost is $60 divided by the number in the group, max of 5.

Mounted meetings for C's are held on most Thursdays. Contact Karen Petrauskas for reservations.

FREE mounted meetings are held indoors on most Sundays between 9 am and 12 pm beginning December. Check the calendar for details.

Unmounted Meetings
As fall arrives and competitions quiet down, Pony Clubbers have time to turn their attention to the RHPC Education Groups. Once cold weather actually arrives these classes will help you keep your "heels down" even when you can't do as much riding. There is so much to learn about horse management and horsemanship. Join an education group and enjoy being involved with your pony club friends. Your involvement in an Education Group will help down the road, especiallly when you go for your next rating.

Our meetings take the form of discussion, lecture, videos, guest lecturers and hands on work. Remember to dress warmly and always wear appropriate footwear, ie riding boots, when working around horses. Pony Clubbers need to purchase The United States Pony Club Manual of Horsemanship - D Manual and/or The United States Pony Club Manual of Horsemanship - C Manual
depending on their level. There is also a B Manual.

2005-2006 Unmounted Education Meetings
Email notices are going out announcing that education groups are starting in November for UR - C1.
Assignments to Education Group is by rating.

The group Coordinator will distribute the schedule and study guides at the first meeting. Everyone must have a manual for studying. They can be purchased online at the USPC Bookstore.

Most important, prepare for your meeting by reading the chapter that will be discussed. Please see your Ed Group below and contact your group leader if you have any questions:
